The gang behind The Brooklyn Warehouse and AceBurgerCo. has teamed up with North Brewing Company to bring you a brand new beer-centric eatery in Downtown Dartmouth.

In keeping with our continued nod to the ever-changing food and drink scene in Brooklyn, NYC… and because our new joint is right across the harbour from our gigs in North End Halifax, just like crossing the Brooklyn Bridge into the tip of Manhattan Island, we’re calling it... BATTERY PARK, beerbar & eatery.

The project is slated to open this October!

Brooklyn’s owners, Leo and George Christakos, are taking decades of experience in food & beverage service and mashing it up with the brewing prowess of Peter Burbridge & Josh Herbin of North Brewing to bring you a fantastic neighbourhood beer bar and eatery complete with a North Brewing Craft Beer Store and pilot brewing system. North Brewing will be filling growlers and 750mL swing tops from a new store attached to Battery Park in Dartmouth.  In addition to North’s beloved regular lineup of beers, Josh will be brewing unique one offs on site.  These special creations will only be available in growlers at the Dartmouth store and on tap at Battery Park.

As part of this project, North Brewing will take a major step towards it’s zero emissions goal by powering a brand new brew house on Agricola Street with bio diesel.  Bio diesel that will be made from spent cooking oil collected from bars and restaurants that we supply with beer! This means that all the hot water needed for the production brewery and all the energy required to boil the beers will be coming from recycled oil. North Brewing started incredibly small with a vision to work toward a zero emissions ideal, and after two and a half years has grown to a point where Peter and Josh can make a significant investment towards this goal. Thanks to everyone who has supported North from the beginning and believed in our vision.  This is an exciting time for North; we have a long way to go but are proud of this big step forward!

On the food side of things, Chef Mark Gray, award-winning chef of The Brooklyn Warehouse, is designing and will be directing an ever-changing menu of snacks, small plates to share, and other surprises; all showcasing Nova Scotia’s best producers. Enjoy dishes individually, or dare to eat all the offerings in a tasting menu format!

It’s no secret that the craft brewing movement in Nova Scotia has blown up over the past few years and we want to bring you the best Nova Scotia has to offer with a clutch of constantly rotating taps and a food program that reflects the return to local economies and farming practices in our region. The setting will be casual with an atmosphere to match. A very “come as you are” neighbourhood spot in the heart of Downtown Dartmouth.

Located at 62 Ochterloney, we will be sharing the sidewalk with Dartmouth favourites Two if By Sea Café, and The Canteen Sandwich Shop, located literally, just steps away. The crews of both these perfect neighbours have done an incredible job of bringing focus back to this wonderful and walkable downtown neighborhood, helping to foster a true sense of community which we are more than excited to be a part of.

To that end, we are going to launch, yet again, a crowdfunding campaign to bring you in on the ground floor of this exciting project. Having run two successful crowdfunding campaigns to help fund major renovations at The Brooklyn Warehouse in Halifax, we have seen first hand the value that customers get when they have the opportunity to be a part of something special happening where they live and work. A crowdfunding campaign is a true show of community spirit; and given the energy that Downtown Dartmouth is radiating, what better way to kick off the project than by letting the customer and community be a part of it!

We think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
